Confession: I need a Volvo 240. I need to have one by the time I die. Why? Because I should've already had one. When looking at first cars, I found a 1991 that was pretty cool; but grandma told me it was too slow. So now I need one. And this showed up for $1200.

Ad keeps it very simple. The car runs and drives great. It passed emissions (car was from TN). Does need a little work. The radio antennae is broken (but my dad promised he fix that for me), the AC is broken (when is it not though? I don't even care about that), and needs turn signals.

Interior looks very clean and the color combo is so ugly it is beautiful. I love how original it is. Virtually everything from the hubcaps to the paint look all factory. I love it. Is it worth it for $1100?NPOCP

Do you really not want AC in Florida? That sounds like torture to me.

Its not that I don't want it... but I've looked at about 5 of these now.. NOT ONE had working AC. My aunt who had a 89 240 wagon had the ac break as well. Something is wrong with these. When I was in the first 240 last summer, with the windows down, it really was quite bearable. And maybe this has an easy fix, which id get around to later.

It wouldnt be a daily driver, so it should be okay

I guess if you're not daily-driving it that's better. But trust me, 90* days in a car that doesn't have AC fucking sucks. I have windows that are so big they wouldn't look out of place on a house and it still sucks.

A warning, that 3 speed OD transmission is a dog. Slooooooooooooooow. But 240s are the bomb. I grew up in a 1980 244, and then a 1984 245.

I've heard they are so damn slow! But I'm lucky because this would be driven rarely. it'll never see the freeway. It'll never drive more than 25 miles in one go. So, it doesnt need speed really.

But the 1991 240 didn't have that, right? It didn't seem too slow.

Hmm, actually I don't know yeas and such for the transmissions. My mom is currently driving a 1992, and I'm pretty sure it's the 3 sp OD. Not only are they slow, but the gas mileage isn't the greatest. Like low 20s average.

Still awesome.

Just looked it up and yes, if it an automatic it has a 3 speed with od. But who cares, I won't be tracking it! Not yet at least!

And the gas mileage is a bit scary, but I know that so many trucks still do worse...

The worst part of it all was she never even drove it! And she loves going 30 mph in the 45 mph zone, so it wouldn't have mattered.

But, now I could have one all to myself!
